Remodeling in Wakefield, MA

MR Construction Revolutions is a Wakefield company. Marcio started it here in 2008, and Wakefield is still where the trucks start every morning. That matters more than it sounds. When you have a question in the middle of a job, or you notice a spot that needs a touch-up a month after the final walkthrough, the person you call is a few minutes away, not driving in from another county.

We remodel kitchens and bathrooms, paint inside and out, and hang, tape and repair drywall and plaster. In Wakefield that usually means working in a house where a family is still living, so floors get covered, the work area gets closed off against dust and the site is cleaned up at the end of every day. You get a written price and a schedule at the estimate, and any change is priced before it happens.

A prewar core and a 1950s building boom

Wakefield's 2025 Housing Production Plan describes the town's housing in two big waves. About a third of homes were built before World War II, and another 26 percent went up between 1940 and 1959. The 1950s alone account for 18 percent of homes, far more than the county or state average. Single-family detached houses are still just over half of all homes, with two-families the next most common type.

Those two waves call for different work. Prewar houses tend to have plaster walls and many layers of old paint, so wall repair and careful prep are most of a good paint job, and lead-safe practices apply if work disturbs paint from before 1978. Many 1950s houses have a sound structure and a workable footprint, and what has aged is the original bathroom, a small closed-in kitchen and tired finishes. Often a remodel inside the walls you have is enough.

Permits in Wakefield

Building permits in Wakefield are issued by the town's Inspectional Services & Zoning office at 1 Lafayette Street, which enforces the state building code and local zoning and takes applications online. Plumbing, gas and electrical permits are pulled by the licensed plumbers and electricians doing that work, as Massachusetts requires. At your estimate we tell you which permits your project needs. Painting and most cosmetic work usually need none.

Reviews From Our Satisfied Clients

Marcio scheduled a visit to my home and we went through the renovation I was looking to have done in our master bathroom. After providing us the final estimate we scheduled demo and his team arrived promptly to start their work. They did a good job covering the bedroom items to avoid dust which helped quite a bit. During construction Marcio kept me informed the entire time and we made a couple minor changes to the scope of work without any issues… Overall, Marcio was a great contractor to work with at a good price.

Marcio was WONDERFUL! He guided us through the process of choosing the best paint option for our fence. There was open communication throughout the process and flexibility in scheduling. Our end result is just as we were hoping for, a power washed and beautifully painted black fence… We will be reaching out to Marcio for all future house projects!

Excellent work installing my kitchen backsplash. Good attention to detail. They covered my floors for protection and thoroughly cleaned up when done. I will also have him do my 1/2 bath as well.

The drywall work they did in our living room was flawless. The walls are smooth, and they even helped us with some minor repairs we hadn’t noticed before. Great service and very affordable.

Questions from Wakefield homeowners

Wakefield is home. MR Construction Revolutions is based here and has been since Marcio started the company in 2008. Greenwood, Woodville, Montrose, Lakeside, the West Side and the streets around Lake Quannapowitt are all a short drive. Call (781) 866-1835 and we'll set up a free in-home estimate at a time that suits you.

It depends on the scope. Swapping tile, a vanity or paint in place is often treated as ordinary repair. Moving a wall, adding a window or relocating fixtures usually means a building permit from Inspectional Services & Zoning, and moving plumbing needs a plumbing permit pulled by a licensed plumber. We'll walk through your plan at the estimate and tell you what we expect the town to require.

Usually remodel first. If the kitchen feels cramped, moving a doorway or rethinking the cabinet layout often fixes it for far less than an addition, with less permitting and no new foundation. If the house truly doesn't fit your family anymore, we'll tell you plainly rather than sell you a kitchen that won't solve the problem.

Before demolition we cover floors, protect furniture and close off the work area, and we clean up at the end of every day. On a master bath remodel one customer wrote about, the team covered the bedroom against dust for the whole job. Tell us at the estimate how you'll use the house during the work and we'll plan around it.
