Remodeling in Burlington, MA

Burlington is about fifteen minutes from our Wakefield base along Route 128. Most of the town is single-family homes, and a lot of them are modest houses that families have lived in for years and want to keep. We help those owners update the rooms that have aged badly, like the kitchen, the bathroom and the basement, so the house keeps working for them.

Here that means kitchen and bathroom remodels, interior and exterior painting, drywall work and basement finishing, usually in houses where the family keeps living during the job. Every estimate is free and in writing, with a schedule, and we protect floors and clean up daily. If a project isn't worth the money for your house, we'll say so plainly, because that saves everyone time and keeps the work honest.

A postwar boom town, now losing its small houses

Burlington was mostly farmland until Route 128 arrived in the 1950s, and the town's population roughly tripled in a decade. Its 2022 Housing Needs Assessment says about 65 percent of homes are detached single-family houses. It also records residents watching small capes, once called starter homes, get torn down and replaced with houses selling for over a million dollars, and notes that older homes often need extra maintenance or renovation.

If you own one of those smaller houses and plan to stay, remodeling is usually the better value than moving up. A cape's upstairs bathroom can be rebuilt under the roof slope, a closed kitchen can open toward the dining room, and a dry basement can become a family room or office. We'll tell you which of those your house can take.

Permits in Burlington

Building permits in Burlington come from the town's Building Department at 25 Center Street, which has a separate inspector of buildings, inspector of plumbing and gas, and inspector of wires. The office stays open until 7 pm on Wednesdays. Licensed plumbers and electricians pull the permits for their own part of the job. At your estimate we tell you which permits apply and how long they add.

Reviews From Our Satisfied Clients

Marcio scheduled a visit to my home and we went through the renovation I was looking to have done in our master bathroom. After providing us the final estimate we scheduled demo and his team arrived promptly to start their work. They did a good job covering the bedroom items to avoid dust which helped quite a bit. During construction Marcio kept me informed the entire time and we made a couple minor changes to the scope of work without any issues… Overall, Marcio was a great contractor to work with at a good price.

Marcio was WONDERFUL! He guided us through the process of choosing the best paint option for our fence. There was open communication throughout the process and flexibility in scheduling. Our end result is just as we were hoping for, a power washed and beautifully painted black fence… We will be reaching out to Marcio for all future house projects!

Excellent work installing my kitchen backsplash. Good attention to detail. They covered my floors for protection and thoroughly cleaned up when done. I will also have him do my 1/2 bath as well.

The drywall work they did in our living room was flawless. The walls are smooth, and they even helped us with some minor repairs we hadn’t noticed before. Great service and very affordable.

Questions from Burlington homeowners

Yes. It's about a fifteen-minute drive from our Wakefield base. We come to your house for a free estimate, measure, look at the space with you and give you a written price and schedule. Call (781) 866-1835 or use the appointment form to book a time.

That's your call, but here's the honest math. If you love the location and the house is sound, a kitchen, a bath and a finished basement cost far less than buying a bigger home nearby. If you need much more space than the lot allows, remodeling can't fix that. We'll give you real numbers so you can compare.

Usually, yes. Under a sloped ceiling the trick is putting the tub or shower and the toilet where there's full headroom and using the low side for storage or the vanity. We've built showers tucked under rooflines before. Moving plumbing up there means a licensed plumber and a permit, which we plan for in the schedule.

The town lists Wednesday hours running until 7 pm, with earlier closings on other days and a 1 pm close on Fridays. At your estimate we'll tell you which permits your project needs and how the inspections fit into the schedule.
