The one piece of furniture you use every morning

A vanity is the place where a small bathroom either feels cramped or doesn't. Too deep and you squeeze past it to reach the toilet. Too low and you bend over it every morning. No drawers and the counter fills with everything you own. The right vanity is mostly about size and storage, and only then about style.

Before you fall for a vanity online, we check where the drain and water lines come out of the wall, how far the door swings and how much clearance the toilet needs. That tells us what will fit, what needs a plumber to move a line, and whether a floating vanity needs blocking added in the wall.

Every vanity on this page is one our crew installed: a floating grey vanity with a round black mirror, a rustic wood double vanity, two navy vanities and a white vanity under an octagon window. Design guidance comes with the job, so we help you weigh sizes, tops and finishes against your budget before you order, not after it shows up the wrong size.

What's included

Measure and plan around rough-ins

Drain and supply locations, door swing and toilet clearance checked before you order anything.

Old vanity out, wall and floor repaired

Removing an old vanity often leaves a gap in the floor tile or an unpainted patch of wall. We plan for it so it doesn't become a surprise.

Blocking for floating vanities

Solid wood blocking added between studs so a wall-hung vanity is carried by the framing, not anchors.

Set level and secured

Vanity leveled, shimmed and fastened to studs, with the top set and sealed to the wall.

Mirror, cabinet and lighting

Mirrors and medicine cabinets hung at a height that suits you, with new or moved light boxes handled by a licensed electrician.

Plumbing connections coordinated

A licensed plumber connects the faucet, drain and shutoffs, and replaces old valves while the cabinet is open.

Buyer's Guide

Floating or floor-standing, single or double, and how high

A floating, wall-hung vanity shows the floor underneath, which makes a small bathroom feel bigger and makes mopping easy. It needs solid blocking in the wall and a drain and supply height that the cabinet can hide, which sometimes means moving them. A floor-standing vanity, like a shaker cabinet on a toe kick, gives more storage for the same width and goes in with fewer changes to the wall.

Height is worth deciding on purpose. Older vanities are often around 30 inches tall. Many newer ones are closer to 34 to 36 inches, sometimes called comfort height, which is easier on your back if you're tall. Depth matters in tight rooms: standard vanities run about 21 inches deep, and narrow-depth models around 18 inches can make a cramped bathroom easier to walk through.

A double vanity is great for two people getting ready at once, but it needs width to work, generally 60 inches as a practical minimum and more like 72 inches to give each sink real elbow room. In a smaller room, one sink with a longer counter and two banks of drawers is often the better use of space. If your vanity box is solid and only the top is stained, a new top and faucet may be enough.

Quartz, cultured marble or a one-piece top

Quartz vanity tops resist stains from makeup and toothpaste and don't need sealing, which is why they're common on vanities. Natural stone looks great but some, like marble, etch from cleaners. Cultured marble and one-piece tops with an integrated sink are simpler and easy to clean, and cost less.

If you choose an undermount sink, it has to be picked before the top is cut, so we settle the sink and faucet early in the plan.

Bathroom Vanities: Frequently Asked Questions

Sometimes. The old floor often stops at the old vanity's footprint, so a new vanity with a different size or a floating design can expose an untiled or unfinished strip. If your new vanity covers the same footprint, the floor can usually stay. We check this before you order so you know whether flooring is part of the job.

Not always. Floating vanities, vanities with drawers in the middle and double vanities often need the drain or supply lines at a different height or position than an old single-sink cabinet. A licensed plumber moves those lines when needed. We measure your rough-ins and compare them to the vanity's spec sheet before you buy.

Swapping a vanity in the same spot with the same plumbing is often a one or two day job, depending on whether the top is part of the cabinet or templated separately. A stone top cut to size, moved plumbing, new lighting or floor repairs add time. We'll tell you up front which applies.

Yes. Before it arrives, send us the model or the spec sheet so we can check the dimensions, the drain location and whether it comes with a top and faucet holes drilled. When it arrives, open it and check for shipping damage before install day, so a cracked top doesn't delay the job.

There isn't one fixed rule, because it depends on the height of the people using the bathroom and the size of the mirror. Most mirrors are centered over the sink with the middle near eye level, and the light sits above the mirror or on both sides. We'll mark it on the wall with you before anything is hung.

Reviews From Our Satisfied Clients

Marcio scheduled a visit to my home and we went through the renovation I was looking to have done in our master bathroom. After providing us the final estimate we scheduled demo and his team arrived promptly to start their work. They did a good job covering the bedroom items to avoid dust which helped quite a bit. During construction Marcio kept me informed the entire time and we made a couple minor changes to the scope of work without any issues… Overall, Marcio was a great contractor to work with at a good price.

Excellent work installing my kitchen backsplash. Good attention to detail. They covered my floors for protection and thoroughly cleaned up when done. I will also have him do my 1/2 bath as well.
