Remodeling in Lowell, MA

Lowell is the farthest Massachusetts city we serve, about thirty to forty minutes from our Wakefield base. If you're in Centralville, the Highlands, Belvidere, Pawtucketville or downtown, we'll come out for a free estimate.

Kitchens, bathrooms, interior and exterior painting, plaster repair and drywall are the work we do. In Lowell's older houses, careful prep and honest scope matter more than fancy finishes. We'll tell you what the walls, floors and trim need before you pick a tile, and you get a written price and schedule that reflects the real condition of the house.

Very old housing, mostly before 1960

Lowell's 2024 to 2028 Homes and Housing Plan reports that 77 percent of the city's housing was built before 1960. Nearly a third predates 1900, another third was built between 1900 and 1940, and only 4 percent dates from after 2000. The plan says the oldest housing is concentrated in the city's core and Centralville, and Pawtucketville has the largest share of newer homes.

The plan also notes what that age means: higher maintenance costs and generally poorer condition than newer homes, even though many units in redeveloped mill buildings have been renovated. For a remodel, expect plaster, uneven floors and paint that almost certainly predates 1978, so lead-safe practices are part of the plan. It's worth fixing failing walls and subfloors before spending on finishes.

Permits in Lowell

In Lowell, building permits are issued by the city's Division of Development Services at 375 Merrimack Street, which also handles plumbing, gas, sheet metal and electrical permits. The city requires a complete application, including the checklist for each trade involved. Plumbing, gas and wiring permits are filed by the licensed trades, as Massachusetts requires. We tell you at the estimate what your project needs.

Reviews From Our Satisfied Clients

Marcio scheduled a visit to my home and we went through the renovation I was looking to have done in our master bathroom. After providing us the final estimate we scheduled demo and his team arrived promptly to start their work. They did a good job covering the bedroom items to avoid dust which helped quite a bit. During construction Marcio kept me informed the entire time and we made a couple minor changes to the scope of work without any issues… Overall, Marcio was a great contractor to work with at a good price.

Marcio was WONDERFUL! He guided us through the process of choosing the best paint option for our fence. There was open communication throughout the process and flexibility in scheduling. Our end result is just as we were hoping for, a power washed and beautifully painted black fence… We will be reaching out to Marcio for all future house projects!

Excellent work installing my kitchen backsplash. Good attention to detail. They covered my floors for protection and thoroughly cleaned up when done. I will also have him do my 1/2 bath as well.

The drywall work they did in our living room was flawless. The walls are smooth, and they even helped us with some minor repairs we hadn’t noticed before. Great service and very affordable.

Questions from Lowell homeowners

Yes. Lowell is about thirty to forty minutes from our Wakefield base. We cover the whole city, including Centralville, the Highlands, Belvidere, Pawtucketville and downtown. Call (781) 866-1835 or send the appointment form for a free estimate.

The Division of Development Services at 375 Merrimack Street handles building, plumbing, gas, sheet metal and electrical permits. The city expects a complete application with the checklist for each trade, so incomplete paperwork just sits. Licensed plumbers and electricians file their own permits, and we sort out which ones your project needs at the estimate.

Expect surprises behind the walls and plan for them. Old plaster, settled framing, past repairs of varying quality and lead paint are all common. We look closely at the estimate and include reasonable allowances in writing. If we find something nobody could have seen, we stop, show you and price it before doing the work.

Yes. Those buildings usually have an association with rules on work hours, freight elevator use and insurance, and brick or concrete walls change how cabinets and shelving are mounted. Check your association's rules before we schedule, and we'll provide the certificate of insurance they'll likely ask for.
